| Guidelines for the preparation of asset management plans for irrigation infrastructure |
| Asset management planning is the process of establishing the condition of infrastructure as a basis for evaluating the level of investment required to maintain or enhance its condition and utility. Good management of assets results in increased longevity and sustained utility of the infrastructure and an enhanced level of service provision to the water user. The guidelines provide a framework to apply asset management planning to irrigation infrastructure. |
| Background The aim of the study was to assess the potential for adapting and transferring to the irrigation sector the asset management methodology used by the water supply and sewerage industry of England and Wales following privatisation in 1989. Procedures for irrigation systems were formulated and tested in a field trial in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The
