Engineering Division is in the process of revising its strategic framework on W3 priorities and fund allocation. The work commissioned will identify the key water degradation issues in different areas, regions and countries that impact upon health of the poor and, where possible, analyse their root causes. It will review the state of knowledge regarding these issues and identify gaps in knowledge and understanding. In addition the study will look at key resource degradation issues and the likely types of solution. The final output from the project should provide a coherent framework for: (a) the identification and selection of new KAR proposals for these W3; (b) the commissioning of research and evaluation of research proposals for theme W3; and (c) the monitoring and evaluation of projects.
